More bathroom remodeling
Last year Juli repainted the bathroom downstairs; this year Debra got to try her hand at it in the kid's bathroom upstairs. The occasion was that God blessed us to be able to replace the carpet with linoleum (yay!!! Carpet in bathrooms was one of the worst ideas house builders could devise...). It was quite an effort to get it all done, and the bathroom was out of order for about a week, but it was worth it.
First Daddy had to take out the toilet, so that we could pull up the carpet. Before the work was all done he had to take it up and put it back several times.
That was weird...
Debra then started pulling up the carpet, which was only slightly tacked down around the edges.
Here was the floor as it looked in its "bare skin," without any carpet or padding.
As is often the case (at least in our experience) with people who come in to do a job for you, it took them a few days to arrive. They got all their work done in one day, though. It looks so lovely, and is so much more practical than the carpet!
Debra spent all afternoon (and some of the evening) of a Saturday painting the walls a light, spring green color. Before, two of the walls had been pastel blue and the opposite two had been yellow. Yes, it was weird. :-) She had taken off the mirror, which made the whole room seem to be bigger. Remodeling does odd things to your sense of perception!
There are still a few things left to do -- like painting the base boards -- but the whole bathroom is much better now. Debra discovered that taking out a couple of the light bulbs helped the lighting to not be so harsh, so we left those out.
We are so blessed to have been able to do this!
