I spent all of that morning in the kitchen. At lunch, we started discussing the possibility of what we could do in the room that Juli, Debra, Laurie and I share. It was rather tight, with: two desks/chairs, a book shelf, two hope chests (Laurie had just bought one that morning), one bunk bed, and one day bed with a trundle that we pulled out at night (which effectively took up any remaining floor space there was). There was discussion of us moving into the master bedroom. We would certainly use the room more than Mama and Daddy, but then we remembered that this room also is home to the two blue easy-chairs which are used for reading after lunch and before bed-time.
Then we thought about just rearranging the furniture. "What if we switched beds with Gretchen and Heidi, so that we have both bunk-beds in our room?" It was worth a try, and Laurie was all on fire to get our room in better order. So she and I spent the rest of the afternoon disassembling beds, moving desks, and getting things into a new sense of order.
Before pictures:
The bunk-bed that Debra and I shared (me on top, her on bottom), the bookshelf, Debra's hope chest, and Laurie's desk in the corner
Laurie slept on the daybed, Juli had the trundle, plus Laurie's new hope chest
Debra's desk, next to Laurie's bed
After pictures:
The corner where the bookshelf and Laurie's desk were formerly, now home to our two bunk beds (it's really cozy!). Juli and Debra share the bigger bunk, Laurie and I have the one against the window.
The corner which formerly held Debra's desk, now with the bookshelf and Laurie's hope chest. The latter's desk is right next to the bookshelf.
Debra's desk, which is right next to Laurie's, is in the place where Laurie's bed used to be. Debra's hope chest is at the end of her bed.
I love moving furniture! We had quite a bit of reorganizing to do afterward, such as getting things back on the walls, but it was very much worth all the effort. Simply not having the trundle bed in the middle of the floor every night is such a blessing (no offense to you personally, Juli!). It almost seems like we have more room, even though we acquired the second hope chest!
C'est vraiment bien, j'aime aussi les changements! Ces photos me permettent aussi de voir un peu votre maison. J'espère que nous pourrions venir un jour.
