Reagan's second birthday party
That's what happens when you visit Grandma's house near the time of your birthday... :-) He wanted a party with all his friends here, then Grandma threw him another one when we visited them over the weekend of the 14th. We were on our way to a wedding in East Texas (which I'll post about at another time), and were blessed to be able to split the trip into two days.
We celebrated it Friday night after dinner, since we were planning to leave early Saturday morning. She and Laurie (who had flown in from Massachusetts the day before) had made a cake, and blown up balloons to decorate the house. After dinner certain peoples started getting silly withe some balloons that hadn't been inflated: they blew air into them, then pulled the opening to get that squeaky squawking sound that really pierces the ears. :-) They had a blast, though they eventually got sent outdoors!
Grandma and Laurie had decorated the cake with twirly candles and steam engine toys that used to belong to Daddy.
It was supposed to be surprise, but I think he caught wind of it... It's hard to keep a surprise in a small house!
Come on, now -- don't you have enough breathe to blow out one more?
For his gift Grandma had purchased one of the things that he put on his extensive gift list: Überstix. That is a toy similar to Tinkertoys or Legos, that you can use to build all sorts of amazing contraptions and constructions. He was very excited!
Since we weren't going straight home he wasn't allowed to take out all the little pieces, but he could pull all the bags out of the box and "ooouh" and "aaah" over them. Felicia was quite interested, too!
Now he is properly 11 years old. :-)
