Daddy's birthday!

This month we celebrated Daddy's birthday.  We weren't able to on "The Day," because we had too much other stuff going on.  However, on the  following Saturday Juli confiscated the kitchen to make a special meal.  She went all out to make a German meal: bratwurst, kartoffelküken (potato pancakes) with applesauce, boiled cabbage, and pumpernickel bread.  What a feast!

She also made a red velvet cake (somehow she pulled it off without him knowing...).  She had the bright idea to ice only one of the layers, so that we didn't have cake left over.  It was just the perfect amount.

And no, she didn't use one candle for each year.  :-P
